Time Pressure: The more we do things faster the more we feel under pressure. Do you have those deadlines to meet or it should of been done yesterday stresses in your job or home life? You may read books on time management and organizational skills, make lists and set your planner only to feel guilty when you dont reach your goals and deadlines?
Or do you get paralyzed by indecision about which job needs to get done first. One thing that all the time management self help books fail to take into account is how we all have individual beliefs and values about how we spend our time.
As a experienced Hypnotherapist I will often help people with handling everyday stress. So when we can move through our day without the pressure of the guilt of not reaching the deadlines that makes life flow a lot easier. So when you discover how you subconsciously deal with the concept of time you can really plan your daily life.

Here is a little exercise I do to help with keeping within the natural amount of food you need to manage healthy weight. Unfortunately we are ruled by the clock with our meal times in our busy lives which has us eating because we think its time to eat instead of actually taking time to feel how hungry we really are.
Try this for a moment next time you say or tell yourself  its lunchtime.

Focus your attention on your area where you usually feel those hunger twinges. If you have lost touch with them it is that area just bellow your ribs and across the middle just under your diaphragm. Just pay it a little notice while you breath naturally and discover if you are even hungry or how hungry you really are. Maybe you just need a light snack or even just a drink of water instead of a full blown man size meal. Take this one step further by noticing what it is you really feel like, some clients that do this tell me that they discover their feeling tense and a little anxiety running round in there. Simply by doing this you are getting back intouch with you bodies own natural ability to protect you from over eating and not consuming higher amounts of energy fuel than you really need.

Well depending on the clients attitude to their changes they are wanting to make. Some clients with sever anxiety may sometimes struggle to make it to their appointment for fear of the unknown and what will hypnotherapy be like, these situations may take 2 or 3 sessions for the client to really get into using their new ways of thinking and changing old behaviours. When a client comes in for something like stopping smoking with hypnosis and their attitude is strongly focused and positive I can say to myself that this person will walk out of my office and make all the changes they have come here to see me for. What I explain to people seeking to use hypnotherapy to make changes is that all clients need to have the right attitude for session to be 100% success and the number of sessions will be limited to what they feel they need to have for the changes to lasting.
Its not my intention to keep you coming for weeks or months of hypnotherapy but to work with you to bring about positive change as briefly as possible to assist you to feel better and save as much of our  time and your  money in the process.

 A lot of therapists believe that you have to go back to deep seated negative experiences and experience them again to make change.The theory they believe is that the negative experiences build up inside like liquid, until eventually there is no room and they burst and overflow, and the only way to get in touch with this process is to experience all the events and let go of them one at a time. In fact the more we experience those negative memories the more likely we are to reinforce the unresourceful state.

At Cairns Hypnotherapy, I often share with my clients, a more effective way of producing change of a feeling or emotion, one way would be,instead of seeing our emotional pain building up like fluid, think of it more in a mechanical way, like a juke box or an i pod. This way you can store the memories good and bad and you can play them back any time you like.

So you can choose to remember good ones just like pushing the buttons on the juke box and create happiness instead of pain. Some creative clients program their minds like the playlists on their i pods and delete any thoughts that make them feel negative and replace them with thoughts that are positive.

At Cairns Hypnotherapy I will work with proven techniques to help bring about positive changes that people want. Often clients want one or two things to change in their lives. An example of this would be to stop smoking and to get healthier. These are two things that anyone can change which will trigger off a flow of other changes in their life.

Do you know that you are being bluffed by all your negative self talk and thinking. Instead of just letting the chatter roll on in your head I wonder if you could imagine that you have your own inbuilt mute button. Next time you catch yourself out take a moment to really listen to what you tell yourself, then press that mute button and notice what happens. Do it again anytime you like, it also works well when you keep the old tapes of someone else's words looping around in your head. A lot of children I help actually take this skill a step further and play it in rewind with chipmunk voices and to see the giggles on their faces is a wonderful response. How empowering to be able to just switch off that unproductive babble.

One of the simplest techniques to bring about a sense of calm is to simply relax your jaw and the muscles in your face and while you take a moment to do this sigh or breath out releasing all the stale air out of the bottom of your lungs. Repeat as needed.
